Last week was certainly an exciting one in the Drupal community with Drupal 8 seeing the light of day on November 19, accompanied with celebrations around the world. In Helsinki, the release party was followed by DrupalCamp Helsinki 2015 on November 20-21, gathering together about 140 Drupal enthusiasts in Finland and beyond to learn, collaborate and network.
Naturally, Druids were there as well – participating, presenting and sponsoring.

The event kicked off on Friday at HTC Helsinki with two interesting keynote presentations. Janne Kalliola, CEO of Exove, argued why open source has gained such a huge momentum and how it works. Otso Kivekäs, a member of Helsinki city council and a software architecht, talked about how society can be changed with software through open data and open source.
The afternoon was packed with presentations, divided into backend, frontend and business/design tracks. Druid’s Lauri Eskola shared his knowledge of the Drupal 8 backend of the frontend, and Tuomas Lannes presented Drupal javascript best practices.

In true Finnish spirit, the evening continued with a sauna and an afterparty. Those who still had some energy left on Saturday, continued with sprints at Druid’s office.
It was a great event once again – until next time!
